GALION, OH - Dr. Tyler K. Huggins, M.D. has been recently appointed to the Board of Directors of First Federal Bank of Ohio.

Dr. Huggins is a native of Galion, Ohio and graduated from Galion City Schools in 1980.

He then graduated from Otterbein College in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Life Sciences with a chemistry minor, and subsequently attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his M.D. degree in 1988.

He returned to Galion, Ohio in 1992 after completing his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Indiana University College of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is a Fellow of Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Ohio State Medical Society.

Shortly after returning to Galion, he founded Obstetrics and Gynecology of Galion, Inc. and in 1996 built the Women’s Center at 1200 State Route 598. He has practiced at this location for the past 25 years. In 2015, he became employed by Avita Health Systems.

While at Galion Community Hospital and Avita Health Systems, Dr. Huggins has served as Chief of Staff, Department Chair of Obstetrics, Chair of the Department of Surgery, and Chair of the Executive Committee as well as being a participating member of other committees. He has served a combined 12 years on the Board of Directors of Galion Community Hospital and the Avita Health System. He currently serves on the Galion Community Foundation and has previously served on the Galion Education Foundation. Recently, he was admitted to the Galion City Schools Hall of Fame.

Dr. Huggins has been an active member of the Galion community and served as Co-Chair of several Galion City School Levies for the building and maintenance of the current Galion City School campus. He is also a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Dr. Huggins and his wife, Caryl, have three children, Pearson, Evan, and Lauren. Dr. Huggins is honored to be a member of the Board of Directors of First Federal Bank of Ohio and is excited to contribute to its future success.
